Nobody can see me! …..

…..this young hare (known at this age as a Leveret) was reacting naturally by freezing on being disturbed. Unfortunately it was out in the open on the edge of the track. It quickly disappeared into the undergrowth.

The explorers …

….. the Swan family finally decided to visit the accessible shore but on seeing somebody coming down the track quickly headed back! With plenty of feed in the Loch the original six cygnets are growing fast.

Next years Damsels?

The unique heart-shaped mating ritual of the Damselfly. Unfortunately year by year the numbers of these and Dragon flies around the Loch are slowly reducing.

A family meal out!

With the sunny weather the insects have plenty of flowers to feed on – in this case an Oxeye Daisy.

Winter casualties.

Sadly the local pair of Herons fell foul to the more severe winter and frozen water,
others will probably eventually move in. Meanwhile the Cygnets will hopefully have a better chance of survival!

A Sand Martin ‘fly fishing’ …..

….. a good sign for the trout!

Cygnets – the fluffy five!

The Corby cygnets are still being kept well out of telephoto lens range, meanwhile on a nearby water these five were happy to oblige! At barely a week old they are already ‘out and about’!

Natures gold!

The Whins (Gorse bushes) are blooming around the Loch filling the air with the scent of Coconut. The flowers although used for culinary and medicinal purposes have to be used with caution as they contain small amounts of toxic alkaloids!
