With plenty of feed in the Loch the cygnets are now nearly the size of the adults and are developing more white plumage. Early next year the adults will chase them away and take control of the Loch prior to the breeding season.
The Cob makes do with a quick ‘once over’ …..….. whilst the Pen on the other hand is far more fastidious …..….. making sure she does a thorough job …..….. and at the end has a a bit of a rest!
What appeared to be somebody near the outlet …..….. turned out to be a young Cormorant having a ‘snooze’ presumably after ‘fishing’……….. it was a little bemused on being disturbed and when fully awake …..….. headed off out into the Loch!
This female Common Darter dragonfly landed on the barbed wire and …..…..in a moderate wind had to cling on tight! (Actual size approximately four cms!)
